I made a little trip to Food Lion today. This is one of the best bargains I've had to date from there.

Yes! You heard right. So how did I do this?

Food Lion has a couple awesome deals going on that offer an instant $5 off of specific purchases. Here is the breakdown:

Cheerios: $1.50 at Walmart

While shopping at Walmart this weekend, I spotted a great bargain. They had their largest box of Cheerios (in the yellow box) cereal rolled back to only $2.50 per box, plus the box itself had a pink coupon stuck on it for an additional $1.00 off. So I picked up 2 boxes of Cheerios for only $1.50 a piece.

Another Rite Aid Shopping Trip...6/27/10

On Sunday, I made another trip to Rite Aid. Here is what I got:

Transaction #1

• (4) John Freida Hair Care Products (on sale 4/$20)
• (2) Banana Boat Sunscreens (on sale B1G1 Free)

Coupons used

• $5.00 off $25 purchase from Rite Aid Video Values. (RA VV)
• $1 off Banana Boat from RA VV
• (2) $1 off Banana Boat Manufacturer's Coupon (MC)
• (4) John Freida Coupons : 1 for $3 off, 1 for $2 off, 2 for $2.50 off
• (1) $1 UP+ reward from a previous transaction

Total for all came to :$11.74 with tax.

I then received a $10 UP+ reward coupon because of the (4) John Freida purchased items.

Transaction #2

• (4) Packs of Stayfree Pads (on sale B1G1 Free)
• (1) Pack O.B. Tampons, (1) Pack of Carefree Pantyliners (B1G1 Free)
• (1) Secret Deodorant (sale $1.99)

Coupons Used

• $10 UP+reward from previous transaction
• (1) B1G1 Free coupon for Stayfree pads
• (1) $1.50 off O.B. Pads

I had a few more eligible coupons to use, but made a mistake of using the B1G1 stayfree instead of a few others.  So my total purchase price with tax was only $.22 and I received a $1 UP+ reward for the Secret Deodorant purchase.

(and I still had $2.50 left in coupons. I guess I will just use them on a future purchase. )

Grand total for all items: $ 11.96 tax included

* Note: wherever possible I purchase bonus packages, like  I did with 3 of the Stayfree. That makes my deal even better. I also found one of the John Freida Hair care products with a free wide tooth comb attatched.

My Rite Aid Shopping Trip 6/25/10

I had a good time at Rite Aid this past Friday (using last week's sale ad and armed with coupons) I bought the following items:

• (4) Purex 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets (on sale 2/$6)
• (2) Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom cleaner (on sale 2/$5)
• (2) Nivea Body Washes (sale $3.99 each)
• (2) Rite Aid brand Sunscreen (sale B1G1 free)
• (1) Pack of Kotex Reg. pads(sale $3.50)
• (1) Pack of Kotex U pads(sale $3.50)
• (1) Pack of Always Pads
• (2) Excedrin Pain Reliever (B1G1 free)
• (2) Almond Joy/Mounds Bars(B1G1 free)

Then I had (3) $1.00 coupons for the Purex sheets, (1) coupon for $5.00 off of of (2) Nivea Body Washes, $1 off each Kotex Pads, Free coupon for Always pads that I received with a free sample request, (2) $1 coupons for Excedrin, and (1) $.30 off Candy coupon from Rite Aid Video Values and a (1) $5.00 off of $20 Video Value coupon and a (1) off of $25 Video Values coupon.   In addition to all of that, I recieved (2) Up+Rewards coupons with the purchase of 2 Purex products.  I accomplished all of this with 2 separate transactions, and rolled the first $1 Up+ Reward into the next order. Don't forget the Wellness Rewards Card.

My first order total after all discounts was : $13.41 and the second order total was :$8:15. That includes all taxes.

 Bringing grand total to $21.56

Without Coupons and but with store sales it would have been: $51.15

Without Coupons and without Store Sales it would have been:$95.43

I almost forgot...there was also a $3.00 Single Check Rebate for the purchase of (2) Kotex pads! So really my grand total is $18.56!

Yard Sale Time

Well, yesterday was Yard Sale day at my house.  I had a pretty good turn out.  I made about $120 bucks and cleared out the clutter of unused objects from my home.  My son even got in on the action. He went through his toys and pulled out the ones he no longer wanted and put them in a bin outside. Most of them were little toys from Happy Meals and such, but overall he made about $10. He was thrilled.

As much as I dreaded this whole process; the sorting, the lugging, the pricing, I did feel better after it was done and over with, despite the sunburn I acquired. With all the comotion I forgot to put on sunscreen. Lesson learned...ouch!

 Where I live, people arrive at yard sales right at the crack of dawn. So I had to get on my game and put things out and move quickly.  Before I could get out all the items I had for sale, I made $15 from my first customer.  I didn't have any big ticket items this year, but I did have some bulky things that I was glad to get out of my house.  Overall, it was a good experience. My wallet is fatter and my home is thinner.

My Food Lion Deals 6/24/10

Food Lion had some pretty good deals there this week.  They have Kraft mayo on sale for 2 for $4 and Kraft dressing on sale for 3/$5.  I had a coupon for $1.50 off of two mayo and (2) $1.00 coupons off of one bottle of dressing. That makes the mayo: $ 1.25 each and the dressing: $.66 each. On top of that, the mayo/dressing display was in the produce deptment and there was a coupon for $2.00 off of produce with any (2) dressing and/or mayo purchases. I was able to use two of those coupons and get $4.o0 off of my produce purchase. Then they are running a sale on Doritos for only a $1.50 per bag. 
To summarize, with coupons and sales I purchased:
(2) Kraft Mayo
(2) Kraft Dressings
(1) Green Pepper
(2) Tomotos (on sale for $.99/lb)
(1) Bunch of Grapes (on sale for $.99/lb)

I only paid $5.19 for everything and that includes tax!

My Rite Aid Trip: Flopped

Well, I had my list, my store flyer and coupons in hand. I was ready for battle. Actually I was just making a trip to Rite Aid. I had planned on purchasing several items that were on sale and that I had some great coupons for. Including a Rite Aid $5 off of $25 coupon. I was disappointed to learn that one of the highest priced items (which would help me to reach that $25 mark) was not yet in stock.It wasn't sold out, it just hadn't come in yet. :(  I was bummed out because that threw my whole plan out the window. The clerk told me that it might not be in until next week! Then said, "Of course it won't be on sale then." Now I think we all know that a RainCheck would have a been a good suggestion for her to make, but she didn't. I usually have success when I go on my Rite Aid shopping trips, so I won't put up a stink, yet. I am planning on visiting another location in town and see if I get a different outcome. I am hoping this clerk just didn't know what she was talking about.

Anyone else have a similar experience with an on sale item not being in stock since the ad came out?

SCAM ALERT: Counterfeit Doritos Coupon

There is a phony coupon being passed around the web. It is for a FREE bag of Doritos. Frito-Lay is trying to warn consumers to avoid this fraudulent coupon. RightGuard Deals: Walmart/CVS as low as $.75 each!

I went to Walmart yesterday and bought (4) Right Guard Deodorants. They were on sale for $2.50 each and I had (2) coupons for $3.00 of of two RightGuard Deodorants.  So a $10 purchase, minus $6 in coupons, brought my total down to $1 each. Pretty good!

However, I saw that CVS has them on sale as a B1G1 FREE. I don't know the exact price, but I am guessing around $4.49 a piece. Total of $8.98 for 4 deodorants. Then using the $6 in coupons, I would have been able to purchase them for about $.75 a piece. 

I just might print up a couple more coupons and do that anyway to stock pile. You can find the $3.00 of 2 coupon at Coupons.com. Remember, you have a print limit of two of the same coupon per computer.
